Background

Canadian Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. (TSX: XSR) operates as XM Canada through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Canadian Satellite Radio Inc (CSR), Canada's premium digital audio entertainment and information company with the best signal coverage across the country.

On June 16, 2005 the CRTC approved the application of CSR Inc. for a six-year broadcasting licence to offer satellite radio services across Canada. Through its XM Canada service, CSR launched its French and English satellite radio service across Canada on November 22, 2005. CSR completed its $55 million initial public offering and started trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange on December 12, 2005 under the trade symbol XSR.

XM Satellite Radio Service

With 130 digital channels of choice, XM Canada offers listeners the most unique and original Canadian and international programming. With endless music and infinite choice ranging from modern rock to classical, blues, hip hop, heavy metal and country, XM offers the most diverse array of musical programming ever launched. XM also provides dozens of channels presenting the best in sports, including National Hockey League, Major League Baseball, Indy Racing League, The PGA Tour, as well as the best in news, talk and entertainment. XM's lineup includes well-known programming partners and brands such as Radio Disney, ESPN Radio, Fox Sports Radio, CNN Headline News, MSNBC, Bloomberg, CNBC, CNN, and Fox News.

XM Canada produces unique Canadian content, including 13 original channels in both French and English, from downtown street-front studios in Toronto, as well as broadcast studios in Montréal and Quebec City. XM Canada’s superior terrestrial repeater network – comprised of more than 68 sites – gives XM Canada enhanced reception and better signal coverage than our competitor. As of August 31, 2008, the total subscriber count was 497,400.

Canadian Content Development

During the past three years XM Canada has proudly supported emerging Canadian artists and promoted Canadian culture to millions of XM subscribers through supporting events like the Jazz Festival in Montreal, the Montreal Musical Instrument Show, Just for Laughs and the Vancouver Comedy Festival. Recently, XM Canada created and sponsored The Verge Music Awards and La Fete du Musique de XM, dedicated to providing a national and international platform for up-and-coming Canadian musicians. Total cash prizes of $90,000 were given to Canadian bands at these award shows to help them in their future projects.

An inherent part of XM Canada's mandate is to continue supporting and promoting home-grown talent in the music, culture and entertainment scene.

Automotive

XM Canada is the satellite entertainment leader in the automotive market and is available in 150 different vehicle models for 2008, including: Acura, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Harley Davidson, Honda, Hummer, Hyundai, Infiniti, Lexus, Nissan, Pontiac, Toyota, Saab, Saturn, Suzuki and Subaru.

XM Canada has an exclusive 13-year distribution agreement with General Motors of Canada Ltd., the largest seller of cars in Canada.

Radios

A variety of plug-and-play satellite radios can be added to existing car or home stereos to enable them to receive XM. The radios can slip into a sleek docking station installed in the car or home; they can be transported between multiple cars or between car and home using separate accessory kits, and can be used as a stand-alone XM home stereo systems when connected to a pair of powered speakers. Also available are portable, handheld radios that get live reception on the go, allowing customers to listen to live XM and store XM programs for playback anytime. A variety of portable XM radios also haveMP3 playback capability.

Retailers

XM products are available in more than 4,700 retailers nationwide, including A&B Sound, Best Buy, Canadian Tire, Future Shop, The Source by Circuit City, Dumoulin/Audiotronic, London Drugs, Shoppers Drug Mart, Zellers and many independent outlets.

Partners

With a multi-year agreement, XM Canada is the exclusive music channel provider on Air Canada flights and provides programming in both English and French to the more than 32-million passengers who fly with Air Canada each year.

Wireless partnerships, such as XM’s agreement with TELUS and Rogers Communications, allow customers access to real-time streaming satellite radio programming through their mobile phone.

XM Canada programming is now available in full-size General Motors rental vehicles under the Avis Rent A Car and Budget Rent A Car banners.

CSR in the Community

CSR recognizes that corporate leaders have the ability and obligation to demonstrate positive corporate citizenship and to contribute to the growth and well being of the communities in which we operate.

Being strong believers in the importance of arts and culture, CSR supports the S'Cool Life Fund, founded by John I. Bitove. The mission of S'Cool Life Fund is to help ensure that all public elementary students are given every opportunity to experience a school life that is enriched in D.R.E.A.M.S. - Drama, Recreation, Extracurricular, Arts, Music and Sports. S'Cool Life Fund believes that children learn better when the core academic curriculum is enhanced with a variety of extracurricular activities. S'Cool Life Fund raises funds and donates grants to public non-tuition elementary school extracurricular activities nationwide and has provided grants for 333 D.R.E.A.M.S. projects across the country worth over $1.1 million.
